Formula
Total volume = converted length × width × height × piece count. Shipment density in lb/ft³ = converted total gross weight ÷ total volume; the built-in 2025 tiers map density to a planning class.
Example
A 500 lb shipment occupying 53.333 ft³ has density 500 ÷ 53.333 = about 9.375 lb/ft³.
