Formula
Order area = total lawn area × (1 + allowance). Pallets = ceil(order area ÷ pallet coverage).
Worked example
A 2,000 ft² lawn with 10% extra needs 2,200 ft². At 500 ft² per pallet, ceil(2,200 ÷ 500) = 5 pallets.
Assumptions and limits
- Default pallet coverage is 500 ft² and is editable.
- Default extra material is 10%.
- Delivery limits and partial-pallet policies are not modeled.

How much extra sod should I include?
Ten percent is a planning default. Simple rectangles may need less; curved borders, diagonals, defects, and pattern matching may need more.
