Volume = length × width × depth. Cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27. Total volume is the sum of all areas.
Worked example
A 12 ft × 9 ft area at 4 in deep is 36 ft³, or 36 ÷ 27 = 1.333 yd³ before any allowance.
