Formula
Order volume = area × depth × (1 + allowance). Weight = order volume × bulk density.
Worked example
A 5 m × 4 m area at 50 mm depth is 1 m³. With 10% extra, the order estimate is 1.1 m³.

- Default extra material is 10%.
- Moisture and compaction are not predicted.

Why does wet sand weigh more?
Water fills pore space and increases mass, so supplier density or a measured bulk density is more reliable than a general default.
