Formula
For each whole riser count near total rise ÷ target riser, actual riser = total rise ÷ count. Treads equal risers − 1 for a standard top step or risers for a flush top tread; total run must not exceed the entered space.
Example
A 105 in rise with 130 in available run, 7.5 in target risers, and 10 in treads fits 14 risers and 13 treads at exactly 130 in total run.
