Formula
Course quality points = grade-point value × course credits. Term GPA = total term quality points ÷ GPA credits. Combined GPA = (prior quality points + new quality points) ÷ (prior GPA credits + new GPA credits).
Worked example
Grades worth 4.0 in a 3-credit course and 3.0 in a 4-credit course produce (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.428571 term GPA.
