Formula
Weighted points earned = Σ(scoreᵢ × weightᵢ/100). Required remaining score = (target − weighted points earned) ÷ (remaining weight/100). If selected, the displayed letter grade applies the explicit A ≥ 90, B ≥ 80, C ≥ 70, D ≥ 60 planning scale.
Example
Scores of 90% at 40% weight and 80% at 30% weight earn 60 weighted points across 70% completed work, a normalized current grade of about 85.71%; reaching 85% overall requires about 83.33% on the remaining 30%.
Assumptions and limitations
- Scores and weights use the same grading basis. Letter grades are not universal: the optional 90/80/70/60 scale is used only when explicitly selected and must match the instructor’s syllabus.
